Expelled;
Mise en scene;
The setting throughout the initial montage is a school corridor and a school bathroom. This has been done to create a cartoon effect, the use of these settings makes the environment more familiar and relatable for the younger target audience.
The illustrations written on the walls during the montage are in black and red, the use of these colours connotes danger or bad behaviour which ties in with the theme of the film which is a young boy gets expelled from school.
The cast names are written on everyday objects that you would find in a high school, for example trophies and hand towel dispensers. The use of these objects when portraying the cast shows rebellion and again makes the setting more familiar.

Camera work;
During the entire first montage pans are the only transition that is used, this shows rebellion and misbehaviour due to the speed of them and the fact that there are no cuts at all.
Close ups were used when the camera focused on the cast names, this is to show that they are important and so the audience can see them clearly.
Once the montage had finished a camera transition was used to move scenes to an establishing shot of a school, this provides a sense of familiality for the audience.
Editing;
The whole intitial montage is done using CGI, the setting looks like it has been drawn in a cartoon form. This shows the immaturity of the main character and is relatable for the younger target audience due to it being a young minded thing to do.
The camera zooms in during the pans on casting names, this shows that they are of importance and allows a smoother transition compared to a straight cut.
During the whole montage no cuts are used, the transitions are done using pans, this makes the audiences feel excited as it is not a natural thing to see in a clip.

Soundtrack;
The score has no lyrics which allows the audience to focus primarily on the illustrations, the score in general is fast paced and upbeat. This excites the audience and allows them to begin to understand what the film is about.
There is no diegetic sound in this clip, this is makes the clip asynchronous due to there being no sound when there should be. For example when the tissue dispenser releases tissue there should be a sound but there isnt. This results in the audience feeling confused.
Typography;
The film title is written in a uppercase, red serif font style. This is to give the illlusion that it has been stamped on to a piece of paper. This gives a feeling of an abrupt end or anger towards what we would assume to be a pupil. The use of this technique allows the audience to see and begin to understand what the film is about, resulting in a relationship beginning to form between the audience and the theme of the film.
