Mise en scene;
This clip is set in a mansion and in the main characters car, this was done to show that the main character is of high class. The main character was wearing a yellow and black tartan skirt suit, this sort of outfit shows that the character is seen as wealthy as she can afford high end clothing. Whilst in the mansion we see some of the main characters relatives and employees, the main characters father is wearing a suit and carrying a brief case. This shows us that he is wealthy and is providing his daughters wealth. We also breifly see the maid cleaning the house which again shows the audience that the family is wealthy.
Clueless;
Camera work;
Through this first clip there is a large amount of fast paced hand help camera work. This shows the excitement and the fast paced lifestyle that the main character is living. The first shot of the main character that we see is a mid level shot of her shopping, this shows us that she is important to the story and again that she lives a wealthy lifestyle. Through the short video montage there is are varied shot and angles used, this shows the excitement and happiness they are all feeling.
Sound;
The song that runs through the whole clip is simple minds kids of america, this song was chosen to show that the film is about teenagers that are doing what they feel like at that age, which fits in well with the theme of the film. During the second minute of the clip there is a continuous narrative from the main character, this was used to explain things about her life resulting in a relationship beginning to form between the audience and the character. During the title sequence there was a switching between the names of the producers and the title of the film. When they switch, there is a diegetic sound of switching which adds to the intended effect.
Representation;
The representation issue in this clip is class, it is obvious that the main character is very wealthy and above other people. This issue in the first clip gives the impression that throughout the film the main character could make friends with lower class people or become of lower class themselves.
Editing;
Quick shots happen very frequently during the short video montages, this is to highlight the happiness and thrill that young teenagers are feeling. Non-continuity editing is used throughout this whole clip, it draws attention to how the film was constructed and makes the clip highlight the fast paced lifestyle that the main character is living. Shot reverse shot is used when the main character is talking to her father, this shows that they are having a back and forth conversation.
Graphics;
The typography in this clip is a bold pink lettering, with a small black outline. This makes the word seem like it's popping out of the background. The L's in the word are both in capitals whereas the other letters and in lowercase, this accentuates the syllables in the word. The pink lettering is set on a green oval, this makes the letters pop and become more prominent. The green oval is place on a blue background which really compliments the green and pink colours in the rest of the image.
