Lights go down; This is who i am
The score for our project will be Lights go down; This is who i am. The lyric focus on what it is like to be young and how big of a change it is to adulthood, this fits with the theme of our film really well as we want to show what life is like for the younger generation.
The key in this song is major and the track in general is very fast paced and upbeat. This is one of the main reasons we chose this song as our final score, the track will be playing in the background under a narrative. This means that we will not be focusing on lyrics but we will be focusing on the overall sound of the track. The track being upbeat and fast paced emphasises the hectic and fast lives that teenagers live but also shows that they are fun.
We also looked at 2 other songs as ideas for out clip, the first one is Viola Beach; Swings and waterslides. We liked this song because of the continuous major beat that carries on through the whole track. Also the lyrics of the track arequite unique and strange which fits in really well with the character that is narrating over the top of the score.
The second song is called Better off by Radical something. Our idea for this track was to only use the verses as they highlight the main characters quirky personality, the harmony in the chorus is very mellow compared to the verses which is why we decided not to use it.
We E-mailed the band that wrote the song that we want to use in our film to seek permission. They did e-mail back and confirm that we are able to use the track as long as we include the bands name and track name in the actual clip. We decided that this could be done after researching other clips and finding the same thing done in back to the future. This means that we will still be following the conventions of a teen comedy when doing this.
