Types of music videos:
Narrative; This type of music video is very common in pop music, due to the fact that its purpose is to tell a story. They usually follow the life of one person, have meaning and strongly link with the lyrics of the song.
Taylor Swifts 'You Belong With Me' is an example of a Narrative music video.
Performance; This type of music video is mostly seen through the Rock genre. This is because Rock artists want to focus more on the story being told through the lyrics not the music video. They also want to show of their musical talents which is why you would most likely see them playing instruments. Nickelbacks 'Photograph' is an example of a performance music video.
Conceptual; These types of music videos are based around one theme or idea that are usually quite unusual. The unusual content draws in the audience and makes them pay attention to the actual video, not just the song. 'The Scientist' by Coldplay is an example of of this type of music video.
