Advert Analyses:

The main focus of this advert is the black background, this makes the images of the band members much more prominant. The use of black is conventional of the indie genre because it is simple, it doesn't draw any unessecary attention to the advert due to this. The use of the black background allows the white text to stand out really well and makes it more appealing to the audience. The band name is located in the centre at the top of the page, this indicates importance due to it being made the most prominent aspect of the advert. The font style presented on this advert is consistant with the general font style chosen by the band, this makes it easily recognisable by the audience. The text on the advert is very conventional of the genre, it contains the name of the album, the band names and some of the best songs within the album. The name of the band is placed at the top of the advert to showcase importance, under that is the name of the album and then at the bottom of the advert we see the three most popular songs from the album. The use of this placement allows the audience to actively see the most important aspects of the advert. The images on the advert are in a similar style to a polaroid, this is done to demonstrate the bands rustic aesthetic and country twang.

-
Typography; Bold, serif, black, on a slant. Slant adds originality which is conventional of the genre. Serif font connotes smoothness and mellow moods which fits well with the theme and tone of the artists music. The boldness and placement of the artists names highlights importance.
-
Colours; 4 stripes of different warm tones (Orange, yellow and red) along with a singular white stripe. Unique and original which is conventional of the genre. Colours are also on a gradient which makes it easy to look at and simple enough to understand.
-
4 siluoettes of the artist standing in different positions; Subtly shows musical ability due to him holding an instument (Conventional), black and white without showing obvious facial features, this is also conventional due to it not explicitally demonstrating him as a person, its much more subtle.
-
Album name; Smaller than artist name, demonstrates hierarchy of importance. In lowercase, again shows its not as important as the artist, this challenges the conventions of the indie genre as conventionally the music is more important than the artist.
-
Small image of album; Subtly promotes entire album not only the artist, conventional. In black and white which makes it stand out against the orange toned background.

-
Text placement; 'James' is placed right at the top of the advert in very bold font styles. This is in the conventional line of sight, meaning it is the first thing the audience is drawn to look at. Thus showcasing his importance over the music which is conventional for an indie pop artist.
-
Font; Album name is in a smaller font and in grey making it less obvious to the eye, this showcases the artists importance over the music.
-
Image; Large image of the artist placed in the centre of the advert over some of the text. Highlights heirarchy of importance and allows the audience to become familiar with the artist who at this point was just starting off.
-
Filter; Black and white filter placed over the entire advert, synchronous with the theme of the song being advertised.
-
Background; Plain white, allows a strong contrast against the black and grey scales.
