Audience Research:
When it came to deciding our song, we chose to play all of our options to a group of students in order to choose a final 2. From this we ended up with 'Seafret-Atlantis' and 'Stereo-Mike mains and the branches'. After choosing our 2 songs, our group was split. 2 of our members preffered one song and the other 2 preffered the other song. We decided to film our discussion which led to our final decision of the track we were going to use for our music video. Our final choice was Atlantis by Seafret. This video in particular was edited by Jamie and Tom and the video you watched above was edited by myself and Abbie.
Survey analysis:
After deciding on our song, we chose to send out a survey asking for opinions of the song and what we should do with it. We did this using various social media outlets such as Facebook and twitter, due to our target audience age range being from 15-19 we concluded that this would be the best way to reach them quickly and efficiently. We decided to ask our audience questions based around the narrative elements along with some camerawork and editing questions. By doing this we were able to establish that people expected pretty conventional indie genre aspects to be portrayed in our video. For example a large portion of our audience stated that they expected the narrative to go down a difficult route such as a break up, in our planning for our music video we are utilising that aspect.

For our open ended questions we have decided to display the answers, but for our closed ended questions we will be analysing them in a bit more detail. The open ended questions were questions; 4, 5 and 6. These questions allowed the audience to explain in more detail what they would expect to see in an indie music video, the responses varied slightly due to some people who were not in our target audience attempting to answer the questions but not fully understanding what we meant. Question 4 is based around the visual elements that the audience would expect to see, their answers were all pretty similar in the sense that they expected a dragged out colour scale in the sad parts and a happier sepia tone is the more up lifting parts. These ideas will be utilised in our music video in attempt to make the emotions of the characters obvious.

Regarding the narrative aspect of the survey, we discovered that many members of our target audience expected to see a breaking down relationship between a couple. This is an idea that we were already working with, so it was very helpful that our target audience wanted to see that as it meant we were working with the correct mind set.

Everybody had a similar response when it came to the editing techniques that they would expect to see in the music video. They all followed a conventional route of using slower cuts in the sadder aspects on the song and speeding them up when we reach the more upbeat moments within the score. This is something that we have chosen to utilise throughout our music video.

We decided to analyse our closed ended questions through pie chairts, since there were only a small range of answers that could have been given this was the easiest and most effective way to display our information.

This question allowed us to see if our song choice was popular with our audience. A's you can see from the pie chart, a large percentage of our target audience enjoyed listening to the track. This means that our song and music video will be popular with our target audience.

Out of the 30 people that participated in our survey, 23 of them through the that the song fit the indie genre. This allows us to continue developing our ideas based around our chosen genre.
