Narrative:

My idea for the narrative is pretty similar to everyone else's, the video will be based on a difficult relationship between a couple. The way in which my idea differs from the rest of my groups is because I visualise a homosexual relationship, the difficulty in this relationship would be the general issues that homosexual relationships face within society. These issues would lead to their struggles within their relationship which we will see within the video. These issues would include homophobia, unaccepting parents and general heartache between the couple. I thought that this narrative would result in a heartfelt base line which is conventional of an indie genre, I also played around with the idea of challenging a convention in the sense of a homosexual relationship compared to a heterosexual relationship. This would make the narrative more interesting and would really tie in with the lyrical content- Danielle

For the video's narrative, my idea is similar to the rest of the groups, as it focuses on a difficult relationship between two people. However, my idea was that the relationship breaks down due to the flaws and problems of the people themselves, as opposed to outside factors such as religion or societal rejection. The video would follow this relationship, and show both good and bad moments (e.g. sharing food for good times, and arguing for bad times), and I also had an idea for including mental illness somewhere in the narrative (an idea which was brought up an expanded upon by someone else when the group was discussing ideas). The narrative will end with the two people separating after trying, but failing, to save the relationship, and both people walk away from each other-Tom

For the videos narrative I imagine a heterosexual relation which starts of really happily but over the course of the song it detreats causing a break up, throughout the song we will see flashback to what the relationship use to be which will become more frequent as the relationship breaks down and also the possibility of  flash forwards to how the relationship could have be in the future, these would be more frequent at the start when the relationship is happy and become less frequent as it detreats- Jamie

When I heard the song originally, the speed and lyrics of the song gave me an idea for the narrative. The main chorus made me think that we could base our narrative on a difficult relationship; the difficulties coming in the form of different religions. Many religions like Pakistani set up arranged marriages; the elder in the family normally the father arrange for the marriage. They could base their decision on the wealth of the other family they don’t consider the romantic chemistry between the two individuals. I think we could do our narrative based on heterosexual relationship where a girl and boy are in love and want to be together but the girl is being forced into an arranged marriage of a boy she doesn’t love. The narrative would be based on like that need to be together but the struggle and heartbreak that they can’t be together. The lyrics “Tell me why this has to end” I picture a shot with the boy and girl about to kiss with the camera being handheld and circling around them; high key lighting making it look like the moment which the boy desires to have. “I can't save us, my Atlantis” they boy can’t do anything to save their relationship because of the girls strong religious family, it’s the idea that he is worthless in trying to salvage their love for each other- Abbie

After talking over our narrative ideas we decided to brainstorm them all in a video whilst explaining them to each other, once we had done this we decided on a story line to go with. We ended up going with a narrative based of a difficult heterosexual relationship where the female character suffers with mental health problems. Once we decided this we decided to film our idea creating process where we all wrote down different things that we would want included in our music video.
