Digipack Analyses:
The XX- Coexist

The colours placed inside the 'X' is a theme that coexists with the grey tones of the rest of the digipack. Coexist is the name of the album which means this aspect of the digipack ties in with the name of the album. Adding a splash of colour in this manor gives a subtle sense of excitement to the album.
The actual CD in this digipack follows the same theme as the rest of the album. It consists of a white background with a bold 'X' covering the majority of the CD. The 'X' follows a gradient from right to left from black to rainbow. This demonstrates the transition from light to dark within the album. The white background makes the 'X' a more dominant sight, this resulting in the audience noticing it more.
The Record label information is written in small print, this is conventional of an Indie album. Unconventionally, it doesn't take up much room and stays primarily to the bottom left corner of the digipack. This means not much attention is drawn to it and it can be easily missed, again demonstrating the point that the music itself is much more important compared to the artist or the production company.
Entire digipack is very simplisitc, which is conventional of the Indie Genre. It doesn't contain any images of the artists, this gives the impression that the music is more important than the actual artist.
The back panel of this Digipack is extremely simplistic, with a grey background to rid of any overwhelming colours. The use of the colour grey is very conventional of an indie artist because one of there main aims is to create a genuine feeling. The use of a very simple, black sans serif font style for the track list adds to the minimalistic feeling that Indie artists are so well known for.
Arctic Monkeys

Kodaline- In a perfect world

Setting- Large open space, with a small platform placed in the centre. Minimalistic, adds mystery as we don't know who the people are, conventional of the indie genre. High key lighting- Adds a summery vibe to the whole album, demonstrates happy emotions which is synchronous with the tracks on the album. Typography- White font style, simple sans serif and uppercase. Simplistic style which keeps focus on the album and tracks rather than the artists.

Word placement- Artist name is placed in the line of sight making it one of the first things the audience notices, thus making the album and artists more recognisable. Album name is placed slightly below the artist name is a smaller font, this highlights the heirachy of importance, making the artist more important than the music.

The back panel follows the theme of a summer evening, again keeping the album synchronous with the soundtrack. It had purple tones running through it which adds a unique sense to the album and shows the audience societies idea of perfect. The tracklist is contains 11 songs which breaks conventions as typically only 6-8 songs are present. This demonstrates originality. The font of the tracks are consistent with the fonts seen on the rest of the album, minimalistic.

The 1975

-
Front panel; Artist name is placed in the centre of the album, putting it in the direct line of sight. It is written on a black square with a bright light shining around it in order to make it more prominant. This is conventional as it highlights the importance of the artist and allows it to be seen easily. The album name is not seen as it does not exist much like The white album by the beatles. This adds a sense of mystery to the type of music that will be on their album and due to this being their first album this is conventional.
-
CD- The entire CD is grey with the artist name placed largely at the top in the centre. This is very minimalistic which is conventional of the genre itself. The CD leaves a lot of space for interpretation and mystery due to it not having an image on it, this leaving the audience confused and wanting to understand more about what the album is about.
-
Inside panel; The background is a standard filled black which allows the text to stand out making it easy for the audience to see. The text showcases information that is conventionally seen in the small print of an album cover, this gives the album a more professional and honest look.
-
Back Panel; This panel displays a large amount of synergy with the front panel due to it being the same image with the only difference being the track list apposed to the album name. This demonstrates a large amount of consistency making the album easier to understand and maintains the bands desired image.
-
Front Panel; Album name is much larger than artist name and takes up 80% of the panel. Demonstrates levels of importance, in this case music over artist. This is contradicted by the use of an image of the artist on the front cover, this is conventional of the genre but does not fit with the message of the word placement. The image of the artist does not display any direct address, just the theme of Red which connotes love. This is synchronous to the theme of the soundtrack due to all the songs being about love or heartbreak.
-
CD; The CD showcases synergy between the front panel and back panel. It has the theme of red in the fact that the whole colour scheme on this section is different tones of red, it is also similar to the back panel through the use of stripes at the top of the CD.
-
Back Panel; This panel drifts from the theme of the front panel and the CD due to it being grey toned, it still has synergy with the rest of the album due to the use of red text compared the the white that we see on the front. Conventionally there is an image of the artist on the back panel, this is typical of an indie pop artist as they lie to highlight their construction.
