Filming Diary:
As a group, we decided to document our filming process in the form of a vlog. This involved using an IPhone 6 to film and IMovie to edit. Abbie took control of this in order to enhance her editing skills on other platforms. We chose to blog rather than document it in a textual base because we all wanted to include more technological based elements to our sites and we felt as if we could expand more on our opinions of the shoot in this manor.
We shot the performance section of our music video on the 7th January 2017. We started the filming process at 8 o'clock, it took us around an hour to set up the stage and prepare our band ready to begin shooting. At half 9 we began filming and continued filming until 12pm with a 15 minute break at 11. The day itself went quite smoothly, we did have some small issues at the beginning of our day due to things being forgotten or missing. These problems were easily solved and we were able to continue filming quickly and effectively.
We did our second day of filming on the 19th of december, on this day we shot a lot of our isolation scenes with Abbie to portray her depressed emotions. We filmed for around 4 hours this day, attempting to film some shots but not all of them worked. We tried filming the scene inspired by twilight, unfortunately this didn't really go to plan so we had to adapt our ideas and create a new plan. In order to still create the same emotion that we were planning on we chose to film some over the shoulder shots of Abbie looking out of a window, this worked really well due to the day being quite muggy.
Abbie, Jamie and Tom did a shooting day without myself due to an issue I had which meant I was not able to make the day. They did an amazing job getting isolation shots of Abbie which has allowed us to make our message clearer in our music video. Part of their day included driving to the woods to get some isolation shots in a place that once had so many happy memories for the characters in our music video. This excentuates the feeling of loneliness that she is feeling. All in all the day went very well and the group managed to get some great shot.
16th February- Again, unfortunately the rest of the group had to film without me due to issues which stopped me from being able to attend. This shooting day consisted of making sure we had all the shots that we missed or felt like we needed to add after beginning to lay our shots down in Sony Vegas. This filming day ran quite smoothly apart from the whole group getting locked out of Jamie's car which has all the filming equipment in, when I was told this I was not shocked on bit but very amused by the whole situation.
21st February- This was our final shooting day, we decided we wanted some more shots of Abbie walking through places that once held many happy memories for herself and Matthew in order to create a more emotional and drastic change from happy and sad memories. We also took the opportunity to begin getting different photos that could be used in our Digipak or magazine advert, this ran really smoothly and all members of our group got really involved and creative with different ideas of positions and settings for Abbie to be in.
